Het Gegeven Paard

The café of Het Gegeven Paard is a nice go-to place every time of day. BUNK Hotel & Restaurant

Personally, I love old buildings that are transformed into something new, keeping the old atmosphere alive. BUNK Hotel Utrecht is a perfect example of this. This former church, situated right at Singel, currently houses a hotel and restaurant. The high ceilings and a big organ are accompanied by Japanese-like sleeping pods that are built in a huge wooden piece of art above the bar. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, with a menu full of tasty and original dishes from around the world.

Landhuis in de stad

In city park Oog in Al, you can find a very nice lunch spot hidden underneath the trees: Landhuis in de Stad. Both inside, in the cosy (but big) living room and outside, on the fine terrace, you’ll enjoy your lunch and relax. Meals are mostly prepared with ingredients from local producers. Want a souvenir or gift? Some of these local products can also be bought at Landhuis in de Stad.
Landhuis in de Stad is a very nice city walk not far from Utrecht city center. Check out this (self-guided) walking route that starts and ends at Central Station, past canals, beautiful monuments and lovely spots for food & drinks.
Café Elize
At Mariaplaats, at the beginning of lovely shopping street Zadelstraat, you’ll find some nice lunch restaurants. One of them is Café Elize. The big terrace is partly covered by a rain/sun cover. The menu is filled with toasts, wraps and sandwiches, but you can also go for the best coffee, cake and wine.
Stadsjochies

Bike or drive to Stadsjochies for a one-of-a-kind lunch experience! Not far from football stadium De Galgenwaard in Utrecht East, you have great views on both the vegetable garden and greenhouse right from your table in the Kastaurant. As most of the ingredients grow around you, the garden is served right onto your plate. Though the surprise menu is full of veggies, it’s often complemented with a local piece of meat or some fish. And can be complemented with a fine matching wine or mocktail!
Noda (POST Utrecht)

When you’re in for an easy-going and inexpensive lunch, get yourself a table at Noda Eetbar & deli. Go for a table at the window as these give cool Oudegracht views. Noda is situated on the second floor of POST Utrecht and is located in the library, which is a very nice-to-visit in itself.
Utrecht library is situated in the former post office, built in the style of Amsterdam School. Don’t forget to go to the 1st floor, where you can enjoy a view on the big lobby and the high parabolic ceilings.
Anna Pancakes
It’s all in the name, for the best American pancakes, Anna Pancakes is the place to go! Just around the corner of shopping mall Hoog Catharijne you’ll find this nice and popular lunch spot. If you’re not in the mood for pancakes, also the fine yoghurt bowl is a hit or go for some bagels or eggs. PS: Anna Pancakes has more restaurants in Utrecht city center.

Luc. Utrecht
Next to Anna Pancakes Voor Clarenburg is Restaurant Luc. a cosy but deep restaurant, filled with green plants. Order one of the big slices of bread covered with avocado, poached eggs or smoked salmon. Or treat yourself on a grilled sandwich, croquettes or some coffee and cake.
Karibu

Check out Vogelenbuurt for a cosy city feel (here’s the walking route) and choose Karibu to have lunch! Close to Griftpark you can enjoy a meal from the (mainly) vegetarian lunch menu: waffles, eggs, pancakes, salads, they have it all. The place is rather big with an intimate and colourful feel. Outside is a big terrace.
30ML

Coffee, cake or lunch? 30ML got you covered. On the menu are sandwiches, poached eggs and American pancakes. Or go for the All-Day Breakfast menu. 30ML Vredenburg is perfectly located close to shopping mall Hoog Catharijne (and Utrecht Central Station).
Bigoli
Bigoli is a shop full of Italian delicacies, where you can buy the best sandwich to-go. Cheese, meat, fish, salads, everything looks great at Bigoli. You find the shop at Schoutenstraat (in between Neude and Stadhuisplein), so a perfect stop during your city walk through Utrecht city center. Another option is to get yourself a seat on the sunny terrace of Café De Zaak (with a bring-your-own food concept) and order a drink to have with your sandwich.
Check out the walking route through Utrecht city center and visit both the must-see sights and hidden-gems!
A Beautiful Mess

When you are in the mood for a colourful lunch with tasty, Middle Eastern flavours, A Beautiful Mess is a good lunch option! Beautiful dishes are made in the Asylum seekers center in Oog in Al. It’s a bit of a walk out of Utrecht city center, but with this walking route a very nice activity to get to know more of the city of Utrecht!
Ruby Rose

Pink roses, colourful benches and impressive wall paintings, that’s Ruby Rose. In this wine- and foodbar in Utrecht city center (at Janskerkhof) you share Mediterranean dishes and a nice bottle of wine with your lunch mate. Get yourself ready for a very fine lunch!
