When you say Utrecht, you say Miffy. This adorable rabbit was born in 1955 out of the hands of artist Dick Bruna. Since then Miffy is one of Utrecht most well-known inhabitants. Did you know that the Dutch call Miffy Nijntje, which is short from konijn (which in turn is Dutch for rabbit). Cute name, but difficult to pronounce for non-Dutchies, therefore Miffy is her international name.
Miffy museum
The Miffy highlight to do in Utrecht is to visit Miffy herself in the Miffy Museum. This museum is filled with rooms to discover: from her house to a traffic square, and from the farm to a Boris Bear movie. It’s a true children’s indoor playground! Not going in? Outside of the museum there’s a big statue of Miffy. And in the winter months a light projection shows a Miffy movie on the facade of the building.

Also at Mariaplaats a tribute to Miffy can be found. It’s a special statue, as one side shows Miffy and the other side her founder Dick Bruna.

In Utrecht you can even cross the street with Miffy! Push the button at the Miffy traffic light at the rainbow cross-over inbetween Vredenburg and department store De Bijenkorf.
Library Neude (Post Utrecht)
The location of the Utrecht library at Neude in itself is a great place to visit because of its unique, Amsterdamse School, architecture. Go inside and check the view over the big hall from the first floor. When on the first floor, walk into the children’s area to give the Miffy statue a big kiss.
